Equerre et compas miniature Square and compass miniature : Cet objet présente une histoire originale. Il a été découvert dans un bois d’Île de France, par un adolescent et son père en 1982, avec un détecteur de métaux, à environ 12 cm dans le sol de la forêt. Il s’agit d’un équerre et compas miniature, tel qu’on en fabriquait à la fin du XVIIIe s. début du XIXe s. pour les francs-maçons. Instruction pour le Grade Symbolique de Maître - 1839 :
Il s’agit d’un livret d’instruction de 1839 un usage au Grand Orient de France, à une époque où les travaux de cette obédience s’ouvraient encore à la Gloire du Grand Architecte de l’Univers. Le document est fort intéressant, et il comporte un vocabulaire maçonnique très détaillé où l’on apprend qu’à l’époque ont ne parlait pas de maçons spéculatifs mais de maçons théoriques. Le terme spéculatif étant venu plus tard en France. Le rit moderne qui est décrit ici est entièrement basé sur la Bible et le passage de la construction du Temple de Salomon.
